Direct from the UK comes Om Records´ newest addition to their international family, Landslide! The domestic album, "Drum and Bossa," originally released in Europe on Hospital Records, includes slamming exclusive bonus cuts/remixes not included on the import pressing. Musically, expect to experience styles upon styles ranging from sophisticated down–tempo, lush atmospheric break–beat, funky and melodic drum and bass, and bossa tempo two–step. Brainchild of master engineer Tim Land, Landslide´s Nu Jazz approach to producing has enticed followers ranging from Fabio, Frost and Blame to Gilles Peterson, Rainer Truby and Jazzanova. Fresh and soulful, the flavor of Landslide is a welcome ingredient to the growing number of Om Records´ artists crushing down boundaries and elevating music worldwide!
Raised in Charlton, Tim grew up with his drum kit and spent his early years as a musician playing studio sessions. A chance meeting through mutual friends, led to engineering duties at the Hospital studio in 1997. Spotting his unique skill and fresh approach to music making, the London Elektricity boys signed him up to nurture the Landslide talent. During 1998 and 1999, Tim contributed some deft drum kit action, and his programming and production skills to the London Elektricity album "Pull the Plug," whilst co–producing remixes with LE of Azymuth, Sacrosanctand Bird (Sony Japan) and the exclusive cut for SSR´s Freezone 6 project.
His first Hospital 12", "Buddah/Drum & Bossa," cut it with a host of deejays from Frost, Fabio, Blame and Aquasky, to Cut La Roc, Gilles Peterson, Jazzanova and The Truby Trio. The double A side posed funky drum & bass against roughneck Brazilian breaks – a taste of the Jekyll & Hyde attitude simmering in the studio. This two pronged sonic attack has continued with his tracks for the Out Patients compilation. The offbeat fusion "Golden Cavalier" found favor with the likes of Patrick Forge, Seiji and Ross Allen, whilst "Rockkfall´s" drum&bass funk took radio props from Grooverider and Pete Tong.
And so the album comes through. "Drum and Bossa" is a wide screen mix of break beat–pitch shifting from down tempo cinematics to vocal acoustics, bossa breaks and Latin–licks. Featured artists include Karime Kendra (Sirkus/Scenario), Victor Davies (People), Taxi (Infracom!) and London Elektricity.
