Om Records introduces legendary San Francisco DJ/Producer/Remixer DJ Garth to deliver the 3rd installment of this now classic House Mix series (previous volumes mixed by DJ Mark Farina and DJ John Howard).
DJ Garth is a name that carries weight on the West Coast. First of the notorious Wicked crew to call San Francisco home, he instigated the now legendary full moon parties and co–founded Wicked in 1991. From those heady beginnings, Wicked has been credited widely as the catalyst that put San Francisco on the global dance map.
Acquiring a custom–designed Turbosound rig from the UK in 1994, Wicked established itself as a night of dance second to none and embarked on a series of ´Guest Sessions´, opening their doors for the first time to heavyweight DJ talents Tony Humphries, Little Louis Vega, Chez Damier, Doc Martin, Harvey B, DJ Pierre, Roger Sanchez, Francois Kevorkian and Stacey Pullen.
In addition to hosting these special Wicked events and touring annually with the Wicked Sound System in the crew´s lovingly restored 1947 Greyhound bus, Garth is an accomplished soloist whose uncompromising musical style has kept him in demand across the U.S. in celebrated clubs like 1015 and Townsend in San Francisco, The Roxy and Twilo in NYC and all stops in between. He plays established festivals such as Reggae on the River, Burning Man and Earthdance for Tibet and has worked his magic in renowned clubs in Canada, Japan, Thailand, Australia, France, Spain and the UK.
Garth scored global critical acclaim with his breakout anthem ´Disco Glory´ and in August 1997, was named one of the Top 10 producers to watch in Muzik Magazine, alongside David Morales and Sean ´Puffy´ Combs. The following year film director Gus Van Sant picked up ´Open Sesame´, a song Garth produced, for his movie ´Speedway Junky´ starring Warren G and Darryl Hannah.
Garth lives in the heart of beat culture – San Francisco, juggling roles as DJ, producer, remixer and executive producer for his own label, Grayhound Recordings. He produces under the monikers Crosstown Traffic and Rocket and continues to hold his monthly residency at Come–Unity which, well into its eighth year remains California´s longest–running and most relevant house night.
