Indaba Music, Filter Magazine and OM Records are proud to announce the winners to the Amp Live ‘Turn it Up’ Remix Contest featuring Mickey Factz. With over 300 entires, it was very hard to narrow it down to the final 3. Congratulations to Phlip Broden, Glitch and Vol for their creative work on transforming the original into their own.

1) PHILIP BORDEN – Turn It up Remix

After listening to all the talented & creative remixes that where submitted, hands, down, this was off the hook! This track brings me back to the golden age of hip-hop with a twist of new age sound, a perfect blend that can be easily digested. This remix of Turn It up couldn’t have been done better: whether in a club, iPod, laptop or whatever you got, it makes you want to Turn It Up!

2) GLITCH – Turn Your AMPLive up p p

This track right here is like a perfectly baked cake by Martha Stewart. Full of ingredients that keeps the ears hungry for more. Glitch takes you on a trip through space & time but keeps you from escaping this mortal plane with his choice of today’s hottest glitch tempo samples & synths. Any electronic fan has got to give it to Glitch for his innovative style.

3) VOL. – Turn It Up (VOL Remix)

Vol. starts off wit’ a piano that gets you leaning back right before synths come out from behind bushes to slap your ear drums. This what I’m going to call eclectic-electro funk; a massala of sound full. This track is only in third because there had to be one. Don’t get it twisted folks most definitely a heavy weight contender!

To the tune of Amp Live’s love for remixes, spin his latest hit, Turn it Up, in a new direction. Add your own interpretation to this club-inspired hip-hop single for a chance at $500, a spot on an official release, and some cool gear.

Remember the early days of hip-hop, when b-boys and girls rocked the planet over electro grooves and space was the place to be? Amp Live does. The Bay Area-based producer, best known for his work with Zion-I, boldly ventures back to the genre’s Afrofuturist roots on the lead single “Turn it Up” from his new solo album, Murder at the Discotech. Like Marty McFly with an MPC and a DeLorean on 22s, Amp Live brings the perfect beat back in the name of science, elevating hip-hop out of its creative doldrums and restoring innovation to the genre. Besides producing all five of Zion-I’s critically-acclaimed studio albums (and the Grouch collabo Heroes in the City of Dope), Amp Live’s official remix credits include Linkin Park, Radiohead, Tapes ‘n Tapes, Jamie Lidell, MGMT, Jealous Girls, Tokyo Police Club, and Why?.

“Turn it Up” represents bass-infused robotic beats featuring Mickey Factz (featured on the cover of XXL’s Freshman of ’09) with more swag than a college senior. This new electro-inspired banger recalling the glory days of Run-DMC, T La Rock is being remixed left and right, with much potential for innovation.

Murder at the Discotech drops June 15th everywhere!!!
